The South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild started the new year off on a positive note. We had tons of fun with member introductions and the sharing of personal fun facts. It turns out that some of our members are much more talented than we ever knew. Um, animal impressions, anyone?
2016 President Chelsea showed up prepared, with all the information needed to keep us busy for quite some time. She told us about some new challenges and projects that are happening this year and updated us with the latest news on some previously announced activities. We heard about the Modern Quilt Guild’s Spring Riley Blake Challenge using that brand’s Sashing Stash fabric collection. Then there was the Mighty Lucky Quilt Club’s Block of the Month at Lucky Spool Publishing. Next, was the Block of the Month by Amy Gibson at Stitchery Dickory Dock. As if that wasn’t enough, Tina shared about the exciting shop hop that Hart’s Fabric is participating in this year (and that the SBAMQG will be assisting with.)

A couple closing messages:
1. Let the board know by the February meeting if you need a new name tag button.
2. Please sign up for guild volunteer jobs. We need people to chair the charity quilt and the retreat, as well as members for both committees.
We ended with a very lovely sew and tell:
Mo had a couple gorgeous works tonight. Wow!
Karen and Laura have been working on some pretty non-quilts.
Gene showed her small charity quilts.
Pam made only four stunning quilts in the past month.
Mickey had a success and Renee had a (hopefully temporary) fail.
Please come check us out in February. We would love to meet some new peeps!
