Swaps and Challenges

Madrona Road Challenge Roundup

The latest Modern Quilt Guild challenge featured the fabrics from Violet Craft’s Madrona Road collection.  Our guild wasted no time in distributing the fabrics that were donated to us amongst our members, and getting started with the array of colors this fabric range has.

Anne, talks about how she came to her design in this really interesting post on her blog.  She designed this paper-pieced quilt.  Her talents are many!!

Here is Susan’s Madrona Road finish!

madrona.susan Avery will be receiving something special!

And here is Tina’s piece, “here comes the sun” inspired by her daughter’s words when she saw the fabrics, “Mama, you should make the sun.”  It is a semi-circle and pebble quilted.

Karen, always finding time to do more quilts than humanly possible….made TWO quilts for this challenge.  (Not to mention a table runner)

madroad.karen1madrona.driving in circles Karen calls this “Driving in Cirlces” and she used the popular Quick Curve Ruler to create her original design.  Next, Karen made “No Inherant Sense of Direction” and photographed it on her porch, which is her signature location for shooting her quilts.  Front is as fabulous as the back!

The narrative of the text print in the Madrona Road fabrics is called “memoir”.  Click on the link and read her thoughts about what this meant to her.

More South Bay Area MQG finishes will be coming in!  We’ll be looking forward to those as well.  In the meantime….thank you to the Modern Quilt Guild and Michael Miller fabrics for providing the fabrics and the challenge!
