Modern quilters in search of inspiration had a lot to choose from today. Quiltcon 2015 in Austin, PVQA’s show in Watsonville, and a Small Studies workshop taught by Gwen Marston in Pacific Grove. Kathrin Brown and Lynne Nostrant opted for Gwen’s class, and came away with new techniques and a new appreciation for “small.”
Gwen’s class on small studies is based on her latest book, 37 Sketches, and all 37 studies were on hand for us to ooh and ahhh over. Each small study, or what Gwen calls her sketches, measure less than about 12 inches on a side. Here are just a few:
If you spent your Saturday at Quiltcon or PVQA, it’s not too late to hear Gwen – she is the guest speaker at Monterey Peninsula Quilt Guild’s meeting on Wednesday, February 25.
