June 2017 Meeting Recap

Chelsea welcomed us all to our first meeting in our new digs, Mid-County Senior Center.  Great reception for the new setting.

Announcements:  (all the business stuff)

Retreat balance due by 8.15.17

MQG Info:

  1.  QuiltCon registration begins 6.26.17
  2. Featured member benefit:  4-day pass to QuiltCon is complementary to all members, so be sure to register
  3. Entries for show – July, date to be announced
  4. Charity colors announced are on color board in photograph of Chelsea.  Isabel has volunteered to head this project.

Block of Every Other Month:

Picture Frame blocks are due at the July meeting

Block for September colors will be:  red-violet, yellow, blue- violet.  We will hold a fat quarter swap at our next meeting using these colors.  Bring a solid or a print

PVQA Quilt Show Challenge:

We would like to have a great presence.  We’ve chosen to do Traditional Block Made Modern.  The four blocks are:  Flying Geese, Morning Star, Churn Dash and Pineapple.  Blocks can be any size, finished by December meeting with 4″ hanger on back.

Jeannie Land will be our liaison to make sure all entries are placed together and we are represented as the awesome group we are.

Chelsea has posted the blocks and info on our site.

WIPs:

Members who have already entered their WIPs (up to 6) may now add 3 more for a total of 9.  These are all posted on Instagram at #SBAMQGWIPitgood.  New members who missed the first dash to enter may now enter 3 and get started.

Tara Faughnan Workshop:

Two days, 11.11.17 and 11.12.17.  Sign-ups open tonight.

 

DEMO:

Gabrielle presented a demo of EPP (English Paper Piecing).  Great presentation that will spark those members who have not tried it to get going.

Door prizes were won by Lori, Jeannie, Tina & Pam .  Congratulations 🙂

Pam Rocco Cheap Thrills Class was held last weekend.  A really fun time was had by all – and tons of creativity.  Check out the pics.
