August Meeting Recap and September Excitement!

Less than one week until our September meeting, can you believe it? It seems like August just flew by.

First off, we still have a few spots to fill in our November quilting retreat. Registration is now open to the public if you know anyone who might be interested in a fun, relaxing weekend sewing getaway in the Santa Cruz mountains. Full payment is due October 1st for those who have already registered.

There are still many spots open for both the Sew Day and the Confetti Quilt Class! The more, the merrier! You can sign up for the class anytime at SueDee’s, and you can sign up for the Sept 15th sew day at the next meeting, or by sending a paypal payment to the guild with a note attached mentioning that its for Sew Day.

September marks our 1 year anniversary! Since SueDee’s is undergoing their little move, it has been decided that the September meeting is the best place to bring your quilt show entries for our anniversary show. The reception for the show is set for September 14th from 6pm-8pm.

That also brings us to dues! If you paid dues starting last September, you will be up for due renewal next month. If you paid dues after September, your dues will be pro-rated in your renewal month so that by September of next year, everyone will be on the same Dues Schedule.

And finally, a new guild year means guild elections! All incumbents (except for Suzy who has stepped out for the time being) have automatic spots on the ballot. Karen was nominated for the position of VP, but there was low attendance in August, so we are still taking nominations via e-mail, or comment on this post.

Nominated: President: Tina, Vice President: Karen, Secretary: Julia, Treasurer: Rebecca, Computer Wizard: Anne

A secret ballot election will be held next week at the September Meeting. Please have any nominations submitted by September 3rd.

And now for the fun stuff! August was another month with amazing Sew and Tell! Here are some highlights!

Don’t forget that a full range of pictures (and other great stuff) from each meeting are posted to our guild’s Flickr group! There is tons of inspiration to be found on Flickr; it is a fundamental aspect of the Modern Quilting movement. And it’s fun!

That’s it for August, and September is a big month for our guild! Don’t forget to bring your show submissions (ID tags will be available at the meeting), and that we will be holding elections!

See you Tuesday, September 4th at 6:30 at SueDee’s!
